| Definitions |
Rwanda’s Multidimensional Poverty Index complements traditional monetary poverty measures by capturing multiple, overlapping deprivations using the Alkire-Foster method. |
| Calculations |
The incidence of multidimensional poverty (H) is the proportion of the population experiencing multiple deprivations. The intensity of multidimensional poverty (A) is the average percentage of deprivations a poor person faces. Together, they form the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI = H * A), also known as the adjusted multidimensional deprivation headcount (M0). |
