| Definitions |
In order to match the global definitions as closely as possible, poverty reduction items have been defined as including social protection, health, education, and water and sanitation. In the original data source, figures for official development assistance disbursements are provided in United States Dollars (USD) while figures for gross national income are provided in Rwandan Francs (FRW). Gross national income was converted to USD using the yearly average exchange rate provided in the same data source before calculating the indicator. |
| Calculations |
Sum of disbursements in social protection, health, education, and water and sanitation sectors in USD / Gross national income in USD * 100 |
| Comments and limitations |
The selected sectors may not align exactly with the global definitions of poverty reduction items due to differences in data aggregation. Across the reporting period, the selected sectors generally represent approximately 40-50% of total official development assistance. This indicator is calculated using figures for total official development assistance disbursements, including both grants and loans. Rounded figures are used due to availability. Data sources for 2009 to 2013 do not specify exact figures for all sectors, so approximate figures are used based on text and graphs available in the data source. |
