| Definitions |
The Consumer Price Index for food and non-alcoholic beverages is based on the price of a household basket of relevant goods relative to a reference period (CPI=100). Please see the linked data source for more information on CPI methodology. |
| Calculations |
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) uses a Modified Laspeyres formula to calculate the index. The figures are provided on a monthly basis, with the reference month being February 2014. The figures provided here are annual averages from January to December of each year, calculated as the arithmetic mean of the monthly CPI for the 12 relevant months. Please see the linked data source for more information on the calculation of the CPI. |
| Comments and limitations |
The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) publishes the monthly Consumer Price Index by category but does not provide annual averages, which have been calculated specifically for this indicator. As the annual averages have been calculated from January to December of each year, only full years are included here, although the CPI for some months in 2009 and 2026 is available in the linked data source. |
